All Lodges are now required to use MORI or they will be fined to cover the cost of Grand Lodge hiring a person to enter Lodge data from submitted paperwork. Each Lodge is allowed to have up to 4 Assistant Secretaries so the primary Secretary who does not own a computer can have another Brother do the data entry work for him. I encourage the Masters to make at least one appointment just as a back-up, and send these Brothers to the training. MORI is fast and easy and makes the job of keeping records so much easier.

Once again it is time to start getting your foursomes together for the annual Masters and Wardens golf tournament. It will be held at Colonial Ridge Golf Course in Laurens NY on Saturday August 6 starting at 8:00 AM. As usual the cost is $70.00 per person which includes golf, cart, tee pack, skins, pin shots and a steak dinner after golf. Payment is made to the golf course. Raffle tickets for 50/50 and door prizes will be available before and during the tournament, also mulligans $20.00 per team. This event raised over $ 2000.00 last year and was split between the Masters and Wardens Assoc. and the OSD Masonic Charities Corp. This year the Charities Corp. gave four $ 750.00 scholarships to deserving students in the Otsego, Schoharie and Delaware Masonic Districts. The Masters and Wardens Assoc. uses the money to defray the costs of Aprons etc. for our new District Officers as well as costs associated with the annual Investiture Service and annual picnic.
Last year saw a record turnout for this event and I hope for the same again this year. If you plan on playing please contact me with your team information no later than July 31 so the proper arrangements can be made. I look forward to seeing you all on Aug 6!

For the last 20 years the Past Masters and Masters-elect of the Otsego-Schoharie Masonic District have upheld the tradition of gathering at the historic Bump Tavern (read about the history of the Tavern here: https://www.farmersmuseum.org/node/1152 ) located within the Farmers Museum in Cooperstown, NY to hold their annual Ceremony of Investiture.
This year the Presiding Officer, R:.W:. Bro. Ted Volkert, DDGM introduced the Investing officer, R:.W:. Bro. Roy Bilby, PDDGM, and his staff after the group had been properly soothed by the mellowing tides of bagpipe music provided by W:.Bro. Charlie Poltenson. Masters-elect Bro. Tim Thayer of Cherry Valley Lodge #334, Bro. Kris Kinnear of Cobleskill Lodge #394, Bro. Travis Hartwell of Oneonta Lodge #466, W:. Bro. Randy Rathka of Schoharie Valley Lodge #491, and Bro. Rick Baker of Sidney-Freedom Lodge #801 were put in possession of the secrets of the chair. After the ceremony great dinner was provided by the ladies of Otsego-Hartwich-Arbutus Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star at Otsego Lodge #138 just down the road, and a wonderful speech was given by our Grand Lecturer, R:.W:. Bro. Richard Kessler.

First of all, thank you for the honor you have bestowed upon me as District Deputy Grand Master of the Otsego-Schoharie district. Yesterday was the first day of my term of office and I want to get the ball rolling. I spent the day coordinating what I am about to present here with our new Staff Officer, R:.W:. Bro. Richard R. Scheiner.
I am calling for a meeting of the Masters & Wardens Association on May 20th at Schenevus Valley Lodge. There will be a World Famous Bruce Reed's Pulled Pork dinner at 6 and the meeting will start at 7.
I will present my baseline plans for the upcoming term and the future of our district. ALL Brothers are invited, not just Masters & Wardens. Communication is the key to good Masonry and these meetings are a great way to do that. I will be expecting the incoming Masters and Wardens to attend. Plan on a trestle board workshop. I will tell you now that I want to attend EVERY degree put on in this district during my term if I am available (wife trumps all!) so you will need to coordinate with each other to not have degrees on the same night, unless you do them in joint session.If you absolutely cannot attend, please send a proxy in your stead, perhaps one of your appointed line.

Once again the Otsego-Schoharie Masters and Wardens golf tournament was a great success. Eleven teams battled for golf supremacy and bragging rights for the next year, and when the final putt hit the bottom of the cup all the Brothers friends and family gathered for a steak dinner and the awarding of prizes, 50 / 50 raffle and door prizes.
